The Way of Saint James

The Way of Saint James (Camino de Santiago) is a network of pilgrims' ways serving pilgrimage to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried. Many follow its routes as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth.

What is the Pilgrim University Credential?

The Pilgrim University Credential is a document which identifies the "university pilgrim" (student, faculty or alumni) and certifies his transit through the european universities located in any routes of The St. James Way.

The Credential is a pass that gives access to overnight accommodation in refugios along The Way. The Credential (Pilgrim's Passport) serves as proof to the Pilgrim's Office in Santiago that the The Way was accomplished according to an official route, and thus that the pilgrim qualifies to receive the Compostela.

On Routes, you will see the different paths and Universities where you have to collect stamps on your Credential in order to earn the Pilgrim University Certificate as well as the Compostela

The Pilgrim University Certificate is a diploma of acomplishment given to "university pilgrims" on completing The Way.
